The Center for Material Studies is a research environment investigating and developing material phenomena and performances across architecture and design scales.

Our aim is to develop immersive knowledge and methods for how materials can be understood and activated as instruments to increase the quality of life on a balanced planet. 

Our strategy is to study materials through synergetic investigations of material making, material programming and material perception, operating from the transformation of cellular structures to full-scale architectural demonstrations.   

Our collaborative efforts engage architects, designers, engineers, material scientists, computer scientists, psychologists, and physiologists, creating tailored research teams to address complex problems and propose advanced solutions through unique cross-disciplinary and cross-sector research.
