Mediation & Composition

The exhibition brings together mediations from a range of projects developed by students in the master’s programme Architecture and Landscape, where the relationship between the natural ground and the built environment is a central concern. It presents explorations of how time, movement, matter, and processes can be worked with and translated into architectural expressions.
The media through which we shape imaginaries of the future also play a part in shaping the world itself. An important aspect of architectural education is therefore to develop a reflective understanding of different techniques of mediation, and not least of how such techniques are themselves developed. How do maps and drawings mediate the encounter between architecture and landscape? How do models and sketches connect the abstract and the concrete? And how does the aesthetic character of a place emerge through the material sample and the assembly?
A critical practice of mediation also attends to how the interplay of different mediations shapes an architectural project, and to how the project is composed, both in its becoming and in its presentation.

At the same time, it demonstrates how intuition and analysis interact in the endeavour to create a landscape architecture that does not merely interpret the world, but seeks to re-enchant it.
