About the Landscape Cluster

The purpose of the Landscape Research Cluster is to consolidate, strengthen, and raise the visibility of work in landscape architecture across the institutes of the Royal Danish Academy and to our networks and partners.

In a time marked by climate crisis, rising sea and groundwater levels, intensified weather phenomena, and resource scarcity, how we design and interpret our urban and rural landscapes is of crucial importance. As the foundation and source of resources for all construction, the landscape should be a central focus of any built work and, as an independent discipline, holds the potential to strengthen biodiversity, climate resilience, and human health and well-being.

The cluster seeks to inspire and initiate collaboration across the Academy and externally through mapping current research and establishing new interdisciplinary communities. It works to strengthen research into landscape-related issues and to increase the number of externally funded projects. 

The cluster initiates an annual seminar focused on landscape, as well as two annual cluster meetings. Through these activities, new research and artistic research (KUV) collaborations are developed, bringing together the field’s disciplines and practices in a shared sustainable transformation of landscape architecture.
