Expenses for design students

Students at the Royal Danish Academy should expect expenses for materials, literature, study trips, and software. Please note that the following budgets are estimates that may vary.

Computer and software
You can use either a Window-based computer or Mac. If you need to buy a new computer, we recommend that you wait until you have startet your studies and gained an understanding of your needs. Many stores offer student discounts, which you can take use of once you have received your student card. A budget of DKK 10,000 - 12,000 should be sufficient.

The Academy provides software such as the Office package, AutoCAD, and Revit. You can obtain discounted student licenses for Adobe software and Rhino. In addition, you should expect expenses for possible AI services, etc.

The Academy also has a number of computers with specialised software avaliable to use on campus.

Study Trips
As a bachelor´s and master´s student, you will participate in one or more study trips, which can be both domestic and abroad. You should budget DKK 5,000 - 10,000 for these study trips for the entire duration of your bachelor´s or master´s degree, but please note that the cost varies depending on the destination.

Materials, Literature, Printing, and Equipment
Expenses for materials, literature, etc. will vary, depending in part on the materials you choose for your projects. As a bachelor´s student, you should expect expenses of DKK 8, 000 - 10,000 in total. As a master´s student, you should expect expenses of DKK 10,000 - 20,000 in total.
