I am head of the Master's programme Art and Architecture. I have written extensively about artistic method and the role of the art academy in society. I organize the Works + Words biennale in artistic research with the aim of developing international connections. My recent research concerns the role of architectural typology today.

Works and Words - Artistic Research in Architecture
The book brings together projects and reflections by more than forty architects from across the world. It demonstrates how artistic practice can both illuminate fundamental architectural issues and address the most important questions of our time.
Structured as an archipelago of projects, the book documents and contemplates the three Works and Words Biennales for Artistic Research in Architecture which took place in Copenhagen in 2017, 2019, and 2022 through images, essays, and interviews.
Works and Words 2026
Works+Words 2026 was developed in collaboration with Aarhus School of Archtecture. It expanded the organisation, the research environments and the international artistic research network further.
It had three different venues in Aarhus: The Town Hall, The Art hall and The School of Architecture. The Town Hall showed works with a political content, The Art hall showed works with an artistic character and the exhibition at the school framed presentations and discussions of the nature of artistic research.
The distribution across the city allowed the exhibition to engage with different kinds of audience.
Problem Invention
Difference is foreign and indeterminate. It appears unexpectedly in the midst of the things you are working with, and it cannot be anticipated without being reduced to a variation of something you already know.
This paradox presents artistic method in an architectural process with a number of difficulties. How does difference manifest itself without it being a variation of something already known? Can it be made as a result of a conscious act? Is it created in the mind of an architect or does it come from somewhere else? Is it just a matter of chance?
The book illustrates the artistic process in architecture with sketches, models and experiments by the author.
