This project presents a room divider designed for the waiting areas of Bispebjerg Hospital. Inspired by qualities found in nature, it seeks to balance openness and shelter. Through screen-printing on pinewood, the material is softened, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that aims to positively influence the experience of waiting.
By exploring the interaction between colour, gradients, and pinewood, the project creates surfaces that invite closer observation and engagement. Rather than disrupting the existing space, the divider introduces a gentle and light spatial quality that complements its surroundings.
The project aims to expand the understanding of how materiality, colour, and form can contribute to a more comforting and engaging healthcare environment.
The combination of screen-printing and pine plywood creates a cohesive materiality that captures attention and invites a more attentive interaction with the surface.

The room divider system consists of three different gradient patterns that can be arranged individually or together, creating a dynamic flow through the space. Making collages with natural imagery informed the project of gradients that are varying and dynamic.

When approaching the surface the smooth gradient reveals itself to be small dots in a firm grid. This invites the user to investigate details and variations within the surface.
