My graduation project is a wall lamp designed for Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC), inspired by the shape of the insulin molecule. The idea behind the project has been to create a design for SDCC that fits the hospital's beautiful surroundings while also strengthening SDCC's identity and storytelling.

Although SDCC is a modern and aesthetically pleasing hospital dedicated to the treatment of diabetes, it can easily come across as somewhat anonymous in relation to its function as a diabetes hospital. Therefore, the concept behind my lamp — inspired by the form of the insulin molecule — is to highlight the hospital's purpose, since diabetes is treated with insulin. In doing so, the lamp reinforces both the identity and function of the hospital. The lamp is intended to be placed at the entrance to SDCC.

My lamp also carries a symbolic meaning, as it quite literally shines a light on the insulin molecule — the medicine that enables people with diabetes to live normal lives.
