Design Proposal for a Reintroduction of Danish Night Trains
A reimagination of transportation modes shall help reduce air travel and the associated climate impact. As a design proposal for a reintroduction of danish night trains, EC 24/7 presents a sleeper version for DSB’s coming fleet of electric long-distance trains.
To offer a wide range of passengers a green alternative to air travel, the project aims to provide comfort at accessible prices. The solution is a new type of train, with carriages that service both day and night. Highlighting the qualities of railway transportation, passengers are situated in open cabins with direct views of the passing landscape. This creates space for passengers to carry out work-related activities or relax, while cafes at each end of the train serve as arenas for social interaction.
