The project seeks to explore the grotesque, underground space as a phenomenon and a special appearance, in and around the underground mansion of Nero's Golden Villa in central Rome. To re-inscribe the palace in the city and the landscape in which it is embedded, the project will transform and establish a new architecture containing visitor facilities and an archaeological laboratory.
