Many approaches lead to the world of research at the Royal Danish Academy: from the desire to disrupt the status quo and pivotal individual experiences that transform one's perception of the world to lofty ambitions of having a positive impact on the future. The exhibition 'The Researchers - Breaking New Ground in Design, Architecture and Conservation' showcases some of the strongest research being conducted in the fields of architecture, design and conservation at the Royal Danish Academy.

It also introduces visitors to the individuals who are conducting the research. Who are they? And what motivates them?

At the Royal Danish Academy, we conduct research into how we can live, build, create and manage our surrounding world in new ways. Combining academic weight with a unique artistic approach, our researchers generate new knowledge that addresses the major challenges facing contemporary society.

They study how we can create sustainable solutions with a real impact on individuals, society and the surrounding world. From the recycling of materials and circular design to inclusive urban environments, legible typography, textile production, the transformation of the construction industry, the preservation of cultural heritage and artificial intelligence, our research embraces a wide variety of fields.

What you can experience at the exhibition

The exhibition lets you experience the tangible results of research from ten of the Royal Danish Academy's research centres, clusters and projects created by PhD students, associate professors and professors.

At the long table in the centre of the exhibition, you can take a closer look at the research results as they appear in academic journals and books.

A large screen at the rear of the café allows you to explore the Academy's digital researcher profiles, learn more about the individuals behind the research and delve deeper into their ongoing research projects. You can also continue exploring the research on the Academy's website.
