Bachelor Exhibition 2025: Crafts in Glass and Ceramics
On June 27, this summer's bachelor exhibition opens for Danish and international glass and ceramics students from the Royal Danish Academy bachelor's degree 'Crafts in Glass and Ceramics'.
The exhibition presents projects by 12 Danish and international students in glass and ceramics. It is the result of three years of studies, where the students have had the opportunity to develop their technical skills and personal expression in close dialogue with the materials.
This year's bachelor projects show great diversity among the students, but there is a particular trend that characterizes this year. "The students are very aware of the basic qualities of the materials and work with methods that involve experimenting with understanding nature's raw materials," says Head of Programme Nina Erichsen. "At the same time, the students also use colors that we find naturally in Danish nature, and therefore the color palette is more subdued."
This approach is partly related to the fact that the students work based on certain dogmas, where they must avoid using materials that are harmful to health and nature.
Craft traditions and basic forms
At this year's exhibition, you can see how some of the students work with old craft traditions, based on their own cultural roots. It can be from the area around the Area of Glass in Småland, or a student who comes from Peru and Finland, and works to unite the traditions of the two countries.
Others work with clay as a sculptural expression and explore basic forms such as pots, and how they interact with and are based on the human body. One student has also created a project where she presents her idea of how we can set a table in the year 2025.
