Temporary Roskilde Festival station

The future belongs to the community – the railway station for the 2025 Roskilde Festival builds on an architectural vision for a new era in which architecture is created by a community. 

This departs from regarding structures as individual works of signature architecture, to see them instead as jointly created spaces – for people, materials and places.

The project heralds a transformation in educational practice and a building culture based on community whose core values are cooperation, circular principles and social intimacy.

The individual station components can be dismantled, stored and reused. This approach gives higher priority to the planet’s resources than to short-sighted consumption. The railway station becomes an infrastructural hub symbolising how we can join forces to create solutions that transcend the scope of a single project and merge aesthetics, functionality and environmental considerations into joint action.

The station stands out as a laboratory for future building projects where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
