READY

READY is dedicated to generating new knowledge on how emerging production technologies can ensure responsibility in all stages of textile production. At the heart of the project is a local R&D factory positioned in Herning where the partner consortium is testing and developing test samples of recycled and bio-based textiles for potential industrial scaling. Within this setup, materials are followed through the full value chain from fibre to yarn to knitted, woven and printed fabrics.

Recycled fibres and new bio based materials rarely meet the performance requirements of industrial production. Bridging this gap requires new development environments, new design approaches and new forms of collaboration.

KLOTHING contributes with material-led partner workshop formats for knowledge accumulation as well as practice-led investigations of potential fit for purpose of the developed materials.

The textile samples demonstrate how new fibres behave in actual textile constructions, and they form a tangible foundation for assessing durability, aesthetics, colour behaviour, tactile qualities and technical performance. The prototypes also serve as shared reference points across the consortium, supporting decision making and guiding further material development.

The consortium includes VIA University College (lead), Royal Danish Academy (RDA), Syddansk University (SDU), Danish Techonology School (DTI), Lifestyle and Design Cluster, Nybo Workwear, Bestseller, Kvadrat, Sontex, Kjellerup Væveri, HAACK Recycling, and New Retex.
