Monument to Modernism
The road, running along an embankment made of chunks of asphalt from the previous century, ends in a gate of recycled sheet glass: the entrance to the Infinite City.
The monument is both a transition and a threshold – a memorial and a passageway. It marks the end of the 20th century’s overconsumption and the gateway to a new era defined by all-encompassing sustainability.
The gate is not a technical solution but an architectural gesture: a common site of recollection and an invitation to radically rethink what humankind creates. The imaginary city beyond the gate is infinite – not in size, but in time. Its metabolism unfolds and slowly metamorphosises, as materials are never added nor removed but continually reborn.
The glass, which used to constitute the transparent facade of modernism, stands stacked up here like a heavy wall – both down-to-earth and divine.
