Dreaming Waterspace

Is it possible for the inherent boundlessness of water to inspire humankind to consider new ways of dignified living and dwelling – without straining the planet? Dreaming Waterspace is a lyrical reflection using architecture and design to explore astonishing new pathways to a fluid future where human beings and water are in symbiosis.

Dreaming Waterspace explores the physical spaces of water and its inherent potential through a speculative, visual narrative. The project also includes a virtual-reality invitation to experience water as a sensual, philosophical space in which human beings and their surrounding are reflected and merge.

As it progresses from the Port of Copenhagen to the depths of Øresund sound, the camera pans the water surface before submerging. The overall impression from this short film – combined with the VR experience – challenges our perception of water’s role as either a threat or a scarce resource in the lifestyles of the future. Is it possible, instead, for us to dream up and achieve new ways of living in the water around us?
