The Climate Expedition

The Climate Expedition is a speculative narrative project exploring how storytelling and world-building can help societies reflect on the climate crisis and imagine alternative futures.

The project develops a fictional expedition that searches for “the future that disappeared”, using narrative, visual media and speculative storytelling to explore how climate change reshapes landscapes, societies and collective imaginaries.

The Climate Expedition has been exhibited as part of the exhibition Water is Coming (Vandet kommer) at the Danish Architecture Center (DAC) in 2025 and at Designmuseum Denmark in 2025. Through these exhibitions the project has engaged broader audiences in reflecting on climate futures through speculative storytelling and narrative environments.

The project forms part of the research into speculative story world design by demonstrating how narrative world-building can function as a tool for climate communication, public engagement and the exploration of alternative futures.
