Care2Share

Care2Share: Resilient Heritage and Conservation Research is a five‑year research and development initiative funded by the Augustinus Foundation. 

The project was initiated to strengthen the Institute of Conservation through a collective capacity‑building effort that advances the institute, reinforces scientific research, and brings conservation science and knowledge closer to the wider heritage sector. 

With a strong focus on sustainability, resilience, and future conservation practices, Care2Share aims to build a stronger and more robust research environment. The project consolidates established research areas while also exploring new areas [forslag: such as XX], and interdisciplinary fields to address emerging challenges in heritage preservation. 

Care2Share places particular emphasis on research in materials science, methodological development, simulation and forecasting models, and research that supports the development of environmentally responsible and energy‑efficient collection care.

As part of the project, methodologies for significance and value-assessment are being developed and tested within a Danish context. The purpose is to support more holistic and strategic approaches to the conservation, development, and long‑term use and management of museum objects and collections.

One of our central ambitions under Care2Share is to make our research more accessible and actionable. Through strengthened collaboration with museums, collection-holding institutions, and other heritage stakeholders, the project supports the development of conservation as a strategic tool for decision-making, long-term planning, and sustainable stewardship of cultural and natural heritage. 

Care2Share represents a significant step forward for the Institute of Conservation. By investing in people, research capacity, and collaboration, the project positions the institute to help define the future direction of conservation research and practice - both nationally and internationally.
