Biogenic plastic has potential as a sustainable alternative to traditional materials. Insufficient regulation in this field has led to frequent misuse of the concept, however, which in turn has prompted widespread greenwashing and a failure to exploit the potential.
The underlying idea of Bioplastic Posters is to provide information about biogenic plastic and in so doing prompt a discussion as to why greenwashing is an issue, with a view to raising awareness of the material’s potential.
The biodegradable posters were made of biopolymers mixed with various fibres. They are sufficiently durable to be used in printers. The posters provide factual details about biogenic plastic and the material’s wide-ranging potential. They leave no doubt that the plastics industry needs radical transformation in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The posters are at the same time physical manifestations and discussion forums dealing with biogenic plastic, environmental legislation and regulation.
The posters communicating different messages about the bioplastic industry, law and regulations are imagined to hand at the strategic location in Copenhagen; Copenhill, Plastic Federation, Design Museum (The image is a mock-up).
