Admission Bachelor

Bachelor programmes in architecture, design and conservation at the Royal Danish Academy are all taught in Danish and therefore Danish proficiency at the highest level is required.

The professional bachelor in Crafts is taught in English.

Danish language requirement

Applicants must document Danish language qualifications corresponding to Danish at A-level.

If you are residing in Denmark this can be done in two ways; either through the Danish upper secondary school exam or by successfully passing the Danish proficiency test 'Studieprøven' with a minimum grade of 2 in each discipline. 

The Royal Danish Academy also accepts the Swedish 'Tisustesten' and the Norwegian 'Norskprøven B2' as equivalent to 'Studieprøven'.

As an international student residing outside of Denmark you must be able to document Danish proficiency through e.g. extensive university studies. 
Note that non-EU students cannot obtain a residence permit for the purpose of learning Danish and preparing for the proficiency test. 

Specific rules apply to applicants with an upper-secondary school leaving certificate from Norway, Sweden or Iceland. For further information please refer to the Danish site

General admission requirements

In order to be eligible to apply for a Danish taught bachelor's, in addition to the Danish proficiency requirement your qualification must be equal to a Danish upper secondary school leaving certificate (i.e. high-school exam).

If you do not meet our Danish proficiency requirement you still have these study options at the Royal Danish Academy:

Tuition fee and scholarships

Applicants from outside EU/EEA/Switzerland are required to pay tuition fee at higher education institutions in Denmark.

Applicants with EU, EEA (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) or Swiss citizenship do not pay tuition fee. 

Crafts in Glass and Ceramics

  • Academic year 2024-25: 8,800 euro per semester
  • Additional material fees for each semester apply

 

Architecture

  • All architecture programmes 2024-25: 7,300 euro per semester

Design

  • All design programmes 2024-25: 7,300 euro per semester

 

Tuition fee waiver

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants with a permanent Danish residence permit or a preliminary Danish residence permit with a view to permanent residency will be exempt from paying tuition fee. Please make sure to include a copy of your residence permit and a scan of your residence card when applying.

Scholarships

The Royal Danish Academy is unfortunately not able to offer any scholarships or other types of financial support.
