About the Institute of Conservation

At the Institute of Conservation, we offer four bachelor programmes and a master programme.

At the Institute of Conservation, we educate conservators who help preserve cultural and natural heritage and connect people through the shared history that is essential to our identity.

As part of an artistic and industry-oriented academy, we conduct high-level international research in close collaboration with the industries and professions we train for.

We research and teach across a wide range of materials, examining their degradation, durability, and lifespan using advanced analyses and technology. This knowledge informs preventive strategies and conservation treatments that enable us to protect and preserve objects, artworks, and specimens for the future.

A crucial part of our work is improving exhibition and storage conditions in museums in a sustainable, energy-efficient, and accessible way. Through the combination of research and practice, we develop innovative solutions that not only ensure preservation but also make natural and cultural heritage accessible and relevant to society.

The knowledge we generate extends beyond the field of conservation and supports advancements in other disciplines. Our work thus contributes to a broader knowledge base, strengthening the understanding, dissemination, and management of our shared natural and cultural heritage.
