The Happy Few

Are eco-communities truly presenting the broader community, or is it limited to “The Happy Few”?

This documentary sets out to explore eco-communities and cooperatives in Northern Europe. It features interviews with residents from different housing projects.

The film investigates how the projects provides alternative approaches to the organisation of built environments, ecological solutions, ownership models and innovative ways of sharing spaces and living together.

By visiting frontrunning eco-communities, the film questions who benefits from these models of housing, whose inhabitants often come from specific socio-economic groups or social strata. In essence, it focuses on what constitutes a good life for everyone, while living within the planetary boundaries.

The project was made during the summer of 2022.
