Your application from A to Z

Optagelse.dk is the portal, where you register as an applicant and upload all formal documents, for instance diploma and transcript from high school and language test. 

Optagelse.dk opens each year on 1 February. 
Please use the Danish section for Danish taught programmes and the section in English for English taught programmes like Crafts in Glass and Ceramics.

You registration on optagelse.dk must be completed and signed by no later that 15 March at 12:00 CET, and all necessary documents must be uploaded.
For applicants who do not hold a Danish MitID, a Signature Page will be issued. 
Applicants with Signature Pages should notice that deadline for submission on MitAkademi of Signature Page is also 15 March before 12:00 CET. This applies to most foreign applicants. 
For upload of Signature page you do not need password etc.; just go to: mit.kglakademi.dk and upload your page.

Optagelse.dk has guides for applying, and they offer chat service and technical support during the entire application window. 

After completing your formal application a confirmation note will be issued to you. 
This note is proof that you have applied, but it is not proof that you have uploaded all necessary documents or attached your documents to the educations that you are applying for. 
You attach a document by inserting a check mark; please notice that only attachments with a check mark are visible to the academy.

As mentioned earlier this Signature Pages needs to be uploaded to MitAkademi before 15.3. 
Please notice that the Signature page resembles the above mentioned confirmation note, and they are not to be confused.

In the menu section Admission Requirements our requirements are listed. We have no check list as the list of necessary documents varies from applicant to applicant depending om background, former education, country of high school diploma and much more.

Number of Study Places and Standby

Annually we offer 16 study places and 1 standby place.
When you apply for admission to the Crafts in Class and Ceramics programme you may apply for a standby place as well. You apply for by checking the box "stand-by" in your application on optagelse.dk. Read more about standby on ug.dk. 

In General

Usually applicants with a Danish high school diploma issued after 2005 need not upload anything.
Applicants with a foreign high school diploma need to upload diploma/transcript, and possibly language test. Please go to menu section Admission Requirements for detailed information.

Advice on optagelse.dk

• Go through the guides and information from optagelse.dk thoroughly before applying.
• Apply in good time; this way we will have time to help and guide you properly.
• Contact support on optagelse.dk if you need assistance of a technical nature.

MitAkademi is your platform for communicating with the Academy. 

A few days after applying at optagelse.dk, you will receive an e-mail from the Royal Danish Academy with log-on-information to MitAkademi.

It is important that you log on promptly and create your profile, as messages for you will be posted on MitAkademi only.

You sign up for the online test in MitAkademi, and the test starts in a test space.

A message can be vital for your application status, and you will only be given a narrow window to answer or upload additional documents, if application deadline has passed. If you fail to do so, you might not be able to proceed as an applicant.

Notifications that you have failed to uplad necesary documents.
Offer of study place.

You will be notified you whenever there is a message for you.

Advice:

• Check your log on to MitAkademi immediately after receiving the e-mail with log-on information from the Academy.

Participation in the admission process, which is mandatory, requires that you have applied on optagelse.dk before deadline. And that you have uploaded your Signature page if you need to do so.

You also have to sign up for the online admission test on MitAkademi. See deadline under Dates and Deadlines. The window is usually narrow.
If you fail to sign up for the test, you cannot proceed as an applicant.

After tests everything is assessed. We will notify you when your score is published on MitAkademy.

If you apply for several programmes at the Royal Danish Academy, please notice that the apllication proces may be different. What you need to prepare might also be different. Thus it is important that you study the menu section: Admission Proces (In Danish: Kvote 2).

Offer of study place

If the Academy offers you a study place, we will post it on MitAkademi. You have to accept or refuse our offer within a short timeline. 2-4 days.

If we do not offer you a study place, you will either receive an offer of study place from another school or university or a rejection letter from KOT – Den Koordinerede Tilmelding.

Accept of study place

After accepting you will receive a series of information on study start, schedules, log-on-information to other Academy platforms and more.

You will also be asked to upload a photo for your access card for Academy facilities. 

Advice:

• log-on as soon as possible. If you have log-on issues, please contact optag@kglakademi.dk
• prepare a livelike photo for your access card. You will be asked to upload it later.
