Transfer, Re-enrolment and Credit Transfer

Transfer from Danish education: 

Transfer requires that there are available study places and:

  • That you are an active student in the Master's programme at either Aarhus School of Architecture, Design School Kolding, or in Kalundborg.
  • That your goal is to start in the 2nd year of the corresponding Master's programme at the Royal Danish Academy.
  • That you have completed a minimum of 60 ECTS credits by the start of studies.

There are no available study places for transfer on the masters programmes in 2026.

The application deadline for transfer is March 1 at 23:59. You must use the special transfer application form.

Transfer from an education abroad:

It is not possible to apply for transfer based on a foreign education. Instead, you must apply for admission like all other applicants.  

When you apply for admission you are required to submit documentation for credits obtained on previous master-level programmes. If we eventually offer you a study place, we will assess whether any of your previous academic results can be transferred. We do not make credit transfer assessments before admission.

Re-enrollment in the 1st year of study: 
Re-enrollment requires that:

  • You are a former student at the Royal Danish Academy.
  • You have passed less than 60 ECTS credits in the programme you left.
  • You are applying for re-enrollment in the same programme you left.
  • It has been at least 5 months since you were unenrolled from the same programme.
  • You were not involuntarily unenrolled, e.g., due to exhausting your exam attempts.

The application deadline for re-enrollment is March 1 at 23:59. You must use the special re-enrollment application form.

If you were involuntarily unenrolled, slightly different rules apply. You must apply using the special application form by March 1 at 23:59, and at the same time, you must apply for a dispensation for re-enrollment. The dispensation application must be uploaded with your application. In your dispensation application, you must demonstrate and document that your ability to complete the programme has significantly improved.

Study elements you have already passed will be transferred. The same applies to exam attempts.

Re-enrollment in the 2nd year of study:
