Fashion Design Students Win Awards for Collaboration with Pandora
Two students from the Master's program Fashion, Clothing and Textile were praised during fashion week for their ideas on how fashion can be thought of together with jewellery.
During the spring, the graduate students at 'Fashion, Clothing and Textile' participated in a six-week collaborative project 'When Fashion meets Jewelry'. Here they had to think about fashion and jewelry from Pandora together, and show what can arise when two creative disciplines meet.
The collaboration with Pandora gave the students an opportunity to show all facets of what they learn on the Master's programme: from the methodology of the creative process to the more political considerations of, for example, sustainability. "The collaboration has really helped our students to understand how a large established company works with their creative process, identity and understanding of sustainability." And the learning goes both ways, says program manager Marcus Aminaka Wilmont and adds: "Because while the students learned a lot about how companies work and think, Pandora also got an unfiltered insight into how future designers imagine the future. Pandora was inspired by the students' different approach to process and innovative new thinking about value."
Creative talents translate their own stories in an inspiring way
"As a Danish company, we are proud of this collaboration with a leading institution such as the Royal Danish Academy to support and empower tomorrow’s generation of designers," says Habib Chatti, VP of Design at Pandora. “Every student infused their creations with a part of themselves. As a brand centered on storytelling and self-expression, witnessing so many talented creatives translate their stories and ideas in unique and innovative ways was both inspiring and energizing.”
Habib Chatti and Damiano Meucci, Design Director at Pandora, participated in the panel that had to evaluate the students' projects and choose the two best proposals to combine fashion and jewellery. The winner was Juliane Margot Rignel Jørgensen, who won DKK 20,000. Sarah Blicher Bruunsgaard Bek received the second prize and 10,000 kroner. Both projects were presented in connection with the graduation show that took place during Copenhagen Fashion Week 2024.
