Playtime: Unveiling the Rituals in Christiania through Oral Stories
This project is a speculative game involving three characters: the Architect, the Anthropologist and the future Archaeologist — together (re)constructing a ritual that aims to conserve and revive the communal spirit of Christiania.
Christiania is widely known for its cannabis trade. Deviating from this narrative, we seek a storytelling method that investigates everyday life at the site and a framework for architectural co-authorship that welcomes local participation in spatial simulation.
Thus, we use a game as our method. It is simultaneously an interview method for collecting oral stories, a lens through which to document vernacular building methods and an archive that inspires further creative involvement. The game table welcomes players to act as one of the characters and construct the ritual space using various components.
