Critical Symbiosis

Critical Symbiosis

'Kalundborg Symbiosis' is an existing local partnership between a number of public and private companies which, since 1972, has developed the world's first industrial symbiosis. You have a circular approach to production and the main principle is that a waste product in one company becomes a resource in another, benefiting both the environment and the economy. At the same time, you create local growth and support the green transition.

Can these principles from industry inspire a radical rethinking of the green transformation of our cities, landscapes and buildings?

The master's program 'Critical Symbiosis' will study both the political, spatial, economic, resource and social consequences and opportunities of the green transition. The studies will take place in close collaboration with the city and local companies as well as leading international teaching and research/KUV environments.

The program is split between Copenhagen and Kalundborg and admits students from both places.

Offered in Kalundborg from 2026.
