In Our Nature by Ellinor Ericsson at the Library from 30 April, 2015

This year's Milan Furniture Fair has just ended, having attracted more than 300,000 visitors and 5,000 journalists from near and far.

Amongst the exhibitors was Ellinor Ericsson, who recently graduated from the KADK School of Design.

Ellinor's furniture has just returned from Milan and will be on display at the KADK Library on Holmen from 30 April til 30 May, 2015.

There will be an opening reception at the Library on Thursday, 30 April at 2pm.
Everybody is welcome.

Ellinor about her project

Furniture is a part of our way of living and [reflects] our behavior; we furnish our lives with and live in-between pieces of furniture

[...] I was inspired by the way we act freely in nature and the change [in the use of] furniture caused by mobile technology. We today can take our laptop from our office and work home in bed or lying on the couch. The division between private life and work is erased, and as our actions don't vary between the office chair and the bed, we need a new way of using furniture.

I have created a furniture space were you can interact with different textile structures and objects to create different settings for your everyday activities. This allows you to distinguish between different actions: working/drinking coffee with a friend/ cuddling with your kids/ or just relaxing.
[...] The different textiles stimulate your senses through their structure, material and heavy weight.

The result is a heavy piece of furniture in contrast to the mobile and the nomad trend. I believe we need a stable place; a point to return to when we travel a lot and everything is mobile around us. A place we call home.
