About the Institute
At the Institute of Visual Design and Interaction, we offer three master programmes, a bachelor programme, and interdisciplinary teaching elements, for example, at the Royal Danish Academy’s PhD school.

At the Institute, we work with all aspects of visual design through a combination of design practice, academic inquiry, and artistic research.
We create visual experiences, playful interactions, and meaningful communication, exploring visual languages, cultural contexts, and the transformative role of visual design in the future society. Our focus is on translating complex societal challenges into concrete and innovative solutions.
We build specialized knowledge of strategic design through fieldwork, collaborative processes, academic analysis, concept development, sketching, and prototyping.
The Institute continuously challenges and rethinks the understanding of visual communication and experience design, as visual media are constantly evolving, requiring processes, interfaces, and content to be equally dynamic.
Our students develop holistic solutions where technical, artistic, and academic skills are combined with critical reflection and the ambition to set new standards within our design field.
