Jens Ulrik Jørgensen: Sensing Behavior
The industrial PhD ‘Sensing Behaviour’ aims to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life in the built environment by giving architects, owners, and managers customisable insights on how buildings perform for occupants.
The feedback cycles in architecture are broken. Rarely do architects and owners learn about how their buildings impact occupants in a systematic way. This needs to change, if we are to build better and more sustainable in the future.
The PhD will develop new open-source camera-based sensing systems and occupant behaviour notation for the built environment. This will enable customisable data collection and analysis for a larger number of stakeholders in the Danish building industry. It is GDPR compatible by design and does not collect personal identifiable data.
