The number of senior citizens will wise rapidly in the decades to come. That is especially true of the group of +80 years, who today represent 4,4 percent of the Danish population. In 2050 this age group is expected to have risen to more than 10 percent of the population.

The growing number of senior citizens constitutes a broad variety of societal challenges. One of these challenges will be to provide senior citizens with dwellings that meet both the physical, social and psychological needs and wishes of the elderly. The ambition of this study is to examine to what extent the experiences from the Danish kollektivhuse (collective housing) can contribute to the development of the future senior housing. The study will be based on a mixed methods case study.
