Application Process and time line
1. Prepare application materials
See section Application Materials for more information.
2. Complete online application by 1 March
The application deadline is 1 March at 11:59 p.m. We strongly recommend applying well in advance of the deadline. We do not accept any application materials sent by ordinary mail or email.
Please note that you are allowed to apply for one architecture and one design programme. It is not possible for applicants to change programme after the deadline.
3. Assessment of applications
Applications are reviewed by faculty from the programme you are applying for. As part of the admissions process you may be contacted and called for an interview (e.g. via Skype/Zoom/telephone); however, you may also be offered a place without an interview.
4. Announcement of admission
We will inform applicants about the result of their application continually throughout the assessment period and no later than 1 May. You will have to login to the application system to access any messages regarding your application. You will however be notified via email that there is a new message for you in the application system.
5. Appeal procedure
If you receive a rejection of admission from the Academy, the last paragraph in the rejection letter will address the appeal procedure.
You can file an appeal only over legal matters if you believe that the decision made by the Royal Danish Academy suffers from legal deficiencies. For instance if your application has been dismissed based on your undergraduate degree, or if your application for a dispensation has been rejected by the Academy.
You cannot file an appeal over the professional assessment of your application documents (portfolio, letter of motivation, etc.) made by faculty members of the admission committee.
