CITA workshops
Workshops are central to CITA’s research practice. They are intensive exchanges that allow close collaboration on a particular research question. The workshop shares the tools and technologies through direct hands-on design and fabrication tasks within the context of overarching research questions.
In CITA, workshops are always research led. Their enquiry can move from a known research investigation with existing results allowing participants to explore a well understood problem, or conversely to open up a new territory of investigation in which tools, techniques and materials are probed. In both cases the design process is open ended. Workshops support processes of creative tinkering where reflection occurs through production. The further pairing of workshops with other reflective events such as seminars, symposia and conferences, in which research questions and guiding concepts are contextualised, allows a bridging between the highly focused scope of hands-on learning with wider efforts within the field.
