“Textile Boundaries of Space” is an investigation of the fabric curtain functioning as transformative architecture within an existing open office space. The project aims to develop a spatial layout of curtains to add a light inspired colourscape, a sense of privacy and a contrasting materiality in relation to the existing. The aspiration is to create better use of open and transparent spaces.

To create a sense of privacy and to contribute to a more variable acoustic within the office space, an alternation between solid curtains and translucent curtains is implemented.
The overall operating system of the curtains consist of a high level of flexibility and adjustability to embrace the potential of different spatial configurations within the open office.
The proposal also contributes to an increased adjustability of the sunlight conditions and provides a new planning of the storage space.
The aspiration of the project is to create better use of open and transparent spaces. The curtain system provides a potential of different spatial scenarios within the open office, accomplished by the actors within the interior transforming it.
The inspiration to develop pattern design, colour strategy and concept stems from observations and descriptions of Nordic lighting. The final textile design for the curtains is representing a translation of observing -and describing the light and manifests itself in a materiality contrasting the existing materials.
A combination of translucent and solid textiles connects the interior and the exterior. The curtains are produced in scale 1:1 and consists of 1 solid curtain and 3 translucent curtains. The prints for the translucent curtains are produced with transfer printing technique.
