NeoAtlantis examines the interface between the digital and physical world. The intention is to question how we can both understand and handle the simultaneous presence of and within these two spatiotemporal conditions. The project develops a methodology of alienation, using Digital Artifacts as a speculative tool to seek new potentials. NeoAtlantis is an artistic and research based study.

The model discusses the interface between digital and physical perceptions. Point Cloud animations are projected on stainless steel, burned and laser cut wood, chemical grown crystals, seaweed and a 3D printed data center heart.

The physical parts shifts character with the change of the animation. The model is actualized as part digital part physical and in the interface between these two conditions.

How do we translate conditions from the digital space to the physical: weightlessness, space without gravity, surfaces without a body, a space without horizons etc. These question and more are examined with the scaleless model.
1/10
A series of Point Cloud Scannings made with a Faro Focus Point Cloud Scanner.

Using the scanner in unconventional ways - following the movements of by body interacting with infrastructures of the city (elevators, escalators, the metro etc.) - enables Digital Artifacts to expose the gaze of the technology that lies behind the scanner.

As such the drawings is an examination of the inherent potentials within the limitations of digital technology. And I ask if these limitations might actually be where we can find the very freedom and contingents that can point us in a better understanding of the interface between digital and physical space.

NeoAtlantis_Digital Artifacts
NeoAtlantis becomes in the interface between the digital and physical. The process is characterized by an constant sampling and editing of existing information. The project becomes between investigations in domains such as: media geology, digital production, making by the hand, artificiality e.g.

Speculation and radical contingents is a driving factor in the work process. To do architecture is a matter of the becoming of the future here and now.

NeoAtlantis is actualized in different ways through different media.

With three different drawings - The Minimal Latency World Map, The Mirror Plan and The Rites of Passage Collage - NeoAtlantis appears as a programmatic discussion in different scales, forms and sizes.

NeoAtlantis is the island to turn to when acceptance has occurred and it is time to transcend and immortalize as a digital identity. In the name of singularity, at NeoAtlantis you learn how to become digital before leaving your body forever.
