nature.obj is inspired by Inger Christensen's use of linguist Viggo Brøndal’s Theories of Prepositions’, in her system poem ‘it’.

The poem investigates how literature in the shape of poetry can imitate structural growth patterns, patterns that are shaped and defined by mathematical structures, and Brøndal’s ‘Theories of Prepositions’.

Bøndals’ ‘Theories of Prepositions’, can be categorized as concepts of relations, why the terms need to stand in relation to a certain process.

By reusing the eight terms; Symmetry, transitivity, continuity, connectivity, variability, extension, integrity, and universality, nature. obj explores the technological relation to nature, processed by a computational approach to simulating biological growth.

nature.obj explores a computational approach to simulating biological growth by procedural 3D software, exploring the technological perception of nature.

Consisting of eight visualized reflections upon the human and technological construction of nature, and the alienation it creates between human to nature.

The visualizations are showcased in the format of an exhibition, showcasing eight states of the technological construction of each prepositional concept.

Being of, in, and with nature, reflecting how we perceive, objectify and moderate our surroundings through modern technologies – How does this change our perspective on nature, our relation to nature, and our role in nature?
