The witnesses  is about the search for a shared cultural identity. The work is explored though the experiences of SWANA individuals. Forced to flee from their homeland and having to redefine themselves in a new social context that is not always understanding, open or welcoming. Sarkis designs are a powerful statement on the power of the queer Arab perspective, the importance of emotional connectivity and giving a voice to a minority often misunderstood or overlooked. It is about embracing your past in order to forge a new future and giving yourself permission to claim a space for your authentic self. The collection employs expert pattern-cutting understanding, unique handcrafted textiles and daring form-giving in this celebratory and unapologetic project.
