KADK land commercial PhD in lighting design in cooperation with Henning Larsen Architects
KADK and Henning Larsen Architects have been granted funding for a new Commercial PhD project: 'Lighting Design – Improving Learning Environments through Lighting'.
The project will be conducted by the Dutch lighting designer and architect, mke Wies van Mil at KADK's Institute of Architecture and Design, starting in December 2014.
The project aims to improve learning environments through better use of lighting design. The project will examine the factors that constitute quality of light, and the nature of interaction between people, context and light in current lighting design. How can we then rethink the role of lighting design in an architectural practice, thereby achieving better light quality in educational environments?
Imke Wies van Mil holds Master's degrees in Light and Lighting from Bartlett, Faculty of the Built Environment, University College of London (UK) and in Product Design from the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology (NL).
She has worked as a lighting designer at Arup, London.
The two principal supervisors for the project are Olga Popovic Larsen of KADK and Signe Kongebro, Partner and Head of the Sustainability Department at Henning Larsen Architects.
