I am a Master in Architecture from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, School of Architecture (ETSAM) (1997). I hold a PhD with International Mention in Architectural Design from the same University (2016).
I am a practicing architect and a postdoctoral researcher at KADK. My research addresses the interaction between the building surroundings and the lived life in the residential space, focusing on the relationship between landscape, architecture and user: in a spatial context and on a human scale. It deepens into the theory of architectural design, artistic processes and research methods experience. I gained my Doctorate in Architectural Design with a thesis on the domestic space "1950 around the Louisiana Museum 1970" (1950 en torno al Museo Lousiana 1970). My starting point was modern Danish architecture, which extends to foreign cultures. A multidisciplinary research that implied cultural, historical, technical and artistic aspects simultaneously. It offers a unique insight relevant for research, history and architectural practice alike; that can also infuse the challenges of contemporary architectural design. I possess great technical skills and extensive knowledge of the development and management of large architectural projects, which have been integrally designed by me. My practice is especially focused on residential buildings, involving over 135.000m2 built. I am actively involved in research projects focused on innovative teaching methods; where the role of gamification in Architectural Design education is explored. I carry out my research project Nature-In “New Sustainable Nature-Inclusive Architectural Devices for the Transformation of our Interior Dwelling Space: through Selected Case Studies”, after receiving a Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowship from the European Commission. This is an interdisciplinary research project that will unfold and analyse the underlying forms of knowledge behind exemplary buildings which stand out for their interior space connection to Nature, to inform us of a sustainable contemporary interior design practice. The main aim is to effectively enhance the health and wellbeing of communities through daily interaction with Nature in urban areas of the future.
