Welcome all!

Dear students; welcome; welcome back!

A special welcome to those of you who have just begun our Bachelor's programmes in Fashion, Craft, and Industrial Design and Ceramic Form!

And a special welcome to you guest students and those of you, who have been admitted to our Master’s programmes in Codesign, Fashion Design, Industial Design, and Ceramic Design.

I hope that you all had a fantastic Summer! And that you did not wake up yesterday morning after the cloudburst with water in your basements. Or caught a cold on your way home from the party Saturday night.

So; we have now changed everything here: You will have a new department, a new curriculum, redefined or new programmes/specialisations (a new Bachelor’s programme in industrial design and ceramic form; a bachelor's programme in craft/glass and ceramics which has now been recognized as a bachelor’s programme, a new master’s programme in co-design, and an English speaking programme in Fashion Design).

Many of ou will also all have a new individual studio desk space; some of you will stay here [Second Floor, Building 90], and some of you will hopefully get a regular studio desk space close to the SuperFormLab at Refshaleøen. Craft and fashion students will have the same studio space as before--close to your workshops, incl. the FashionFormLab,

We will soon receive two new workshop leaders (SuperFormLab/ceramics FashionFormLab), three professors, and we are currently looking for new teachers and researchers also in ceramic design and industrial design.

Now; changing everything at the same time is REALLY REALLY difficult! We have all been working hard with the new reforms for almost a year now, but it is only now that those reforms should stand their test and proove that they were worth the efforts. One may say that you are the guinea pigs in all this, but one may also equally argue that you are the ones who will bring the new studies to reality. Personally I am convinced that all these reforms were necessary and for the better. During the coming term you might experience a number of problems with the new system--unforeseen things or things that have not been thought  through well enough. The transition might be particularly difficult for those of you who have decided to move from the old curriculum to the new one. I hope that you will all be patient with us and trust that we are all doing our very best to adjust the system and eliminate mistakes.

And please observe that all information about the programmes, the term plan, etc. can be found on the new intranet which--like the new kadk.dk website--is being opened as we speak.

You will receive more practical information about the schedule at the programmes in a moment. For now I will only ask you to observe the following:

Please stay open-minded and curious, and approach information critically!

Please take good care of your studio space and your fellow students!

Work hard, and enjoy!
