Opening Doors by Means of a Precise Project Identity

"Chemo to go, please!"​ is a remarkable student project carried out recently at the Master's course programme in Codesign at the KADK School of Design; remarkable not only by its address of its current need, its plausible solution, and its careful, extensive research, but also--and for me perhaps most notably--by the way the students managed to "open doors" to important project partners by means of a precise project identity. Chemo-therapeutic treatment of cancer patient in their home and work place seems to include a number of advantages in terms of increased well-being and chance of recovery; but including patients as well as other stake holders from the hospitals and the medical industry in a student design project is certainly not easily done. In this case, the charming and  humorous yet emphatic and serious approach of a project identity developed early in the project seemed to make a difference. As a project identity, "Chemo to go, please!"​ came with a statement and a set of values that showed future stake holders that these students already had a good understanding of what chemo-therapeutic home treatment could mean for patients as well as hospitals.
