Research

The research at the institute supports the programmes and is organized in the following clusters:

Visual Orientation
The focus of the research in this cluster is type and wayfinding. The research in type design is focused on the functional and aesthetic aspects of type design including subjects such as history of type design, the connotation of typefaces and the legibility and perception of typefaces. The research in wayfinding is about more general behavioural processes.

Visual Experience and Interaction
The research cluster is engaged with the theoretical production and artistic development with regards to visual media as computer games, film, TV and animation. Moreover, the cluster is interested in research areas as exhibition design, experience design, game design, motion graphics and immersive design.

Form:lab
The cluster is interested in how form appears and is developed, how form is part of cultural practices and how the notion of form historically has changed within different subject areas.
