Limited Edition: Refashioning the Unwanted

Can a new narrative and multifaceted functionality pave the way to future clothing designs?
We need to critically rethink how we approach design and products. Humanity can no longer afford to manufacture objects of limited functionality and phases of use. Designers need to explore new narratives for how to seamlessly combine aesthetics with function to create quality products that meet real user needs and consider end-use appreciation and longevity.

The project attempts to encourage the development of multifaceted functionality in clothing with minimal waste while simultaneously repurposing and elevating a problematic surplus material into an elevated product of genuine value. The garments displayed are designed to evolve and mature with the intended users and resist increasing standardisation in design exhorted by the globalisation of Western ideals and corporate interests.
