How can interaction with nature from the architectural space boost citizens health and wellbeing?

Development and design of the modern built environment deprives us of the human health and wellbeing benefits of daily interactions with the natural world. Biophilic Design is an emerging approach that pursues sustainable design strategies to reconnect people with the natural environment.

The research Nature-In gains knowledge from our architectural heritage in post-war-Danish and traditional Japanese buildings, which interiors offer fascinating ways to increase human-Nature connection. Nature-In presents biophilic design recommendations and creates new ideas for wellbeing and health to inform a contemporary practice.

The goal is to inspire researchers, design practitioners, policymakers and society and to boost the health and wellbeing of communities in urban areas in Denmark, and beyond.
