Global climate change will cause the demand for energy for buildings to rise sharply in the future. In this architectural framework, the proposed design deals with a sustainable approach to supplying energy for cooling, heating, and ventilation by combining wind catchers with heat recovery units in existing housing.

The design supports architects, environmentalists, occupants and the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate to help reduce carbon emissions and conserve energy specifically in Denmark.

This research proposes to investigate the idea of installing the combination of wind catchers and heat recovery units on the rooftops of existing buildings to provide thermal comfort during the year. This concept of integrated design has not yet been tested in a Danish context.

Developing Buildings’ Performance makes a remarkable contribution to addressing SDGs 7, 11, and 13.
