My project is about modular design - More specifically a modular bookcase. I believe, that through flexibility in design, both regarding aesthetics and functionality, we can prolong the lifespan of furniture, hence reducing material waste. My design aims to be a new take on flexible design allowing for individual setup with focus on showcasing the things that describes the user as a person.

Corner joint - The open structure: One of the many corners within my "open structure" models - The idea was to create a stepless flexible open structure, where light (if wanted) can easily illuminate the things you choose to exhibit on your bookcase.
Hand drawn sketch: One of my many sketches that helped inspire the final design
The first crude mock-up of my final design. As a mere structure it allows for light to pass into the piece, rendering the frame very subtle visually.

The Clamp: This is the finished prototype of "the Clamp". It's a type of wooden bracket that allows both fixation and stepless movement of the horizontal and vertical wooden rods - thereby facilitating the flexibility in the design both in width and hight. The hole in the middle allows for a hanger bar to be installed.
These Renders shows just a few examples of the limitless configurative options that this design can accommodate.

These pictures show the finished prototype. As the main design is merely an almost scaffolding-like structure, there is no limits as to what kind of add-on accessories that could be developed and placed on it. In this example it is shown with a drawer, 2 Book/vinyl boxes and a coloured screen. As the system is infinitely extendable in both hight and width, the setup, both functionally and aesthetically is as flexible and unique as the individual user.
