Can natural dyes help make the industrial textile production process more eco-friendly?

Today, natural dyes are completely absent from the production of industrial textiles. In recent years, however, there has been a growing interest in incorporating sustainable and eco-friendly practices into the textile industry.

Natural dyes based on plant, animal or mineral sources are more eco-friendly than synthetic dyes, as they are derived from renewable sources and often have a less harmful environmental impact during the production and disposal processes.

The project investigates whether harmonious colour palettes and recipes for textile printing can be developed from natural dyes. It explores whether natural dyes can be adapted to modern, local textile production processes. After conducting trials involving natural dyes and additives, the most suitable dyes and printing methods were selected based on their reproducibility, quality, and colour intensity.
